Working with the Data

Learning Statement: In this article you’ll learn how to analyse voting performance data and usage analytics in OMBEA Connect.
Audience: This article is aimed at all OMBEA Connect users.

Background

In our article on Working with Courses and Participants we uploaded data from voting sessions and used Courses to organise it. Now we, as Presenters, can interrogate the data to view Participant performance and attendance over time. The Participants themselves can also log in to view their own performance data. Finally we can use OMBEA Connect’s Analytics to view our usage data over time.

View performance and attendance Reports

  1. Log in to your OMBEA Connect account via connect.ombea.com.
  2. Select Results from the left hand side.
  3. Select your Course from the drop down list at the top of the screen.
  4. The main window will change to show all the Activities within the Course so far. The first will be selected and beneath this you can see the number of Participants, the number of questions, and a summary of each question. By selecting a different bar you will see a different session summarised in the panel at the bottom of the screen.
  5. To change the view to see data by Participant rather than by Activity, click Participant just below the list of Courses. You may use the search box to search for Participant names. Clicking on any individual Participant brings up their summary in the bottom panel.
  6. To download an Excel or PDF report, click the Download button to the right of the screen, just beneath the Course drop down list.

Let Participants view performance and attendance reports

  5. Beneath this you can see the number of questions, and a summary of each question. By selecting a different bar you will see a different session summarised in the panel at the bottom of the screen. Next to each bar you will

View Analytics

Depending on your user access level, you will either be able to see your own usage analytics, analytics for your branch, or analytics for your whole site. In the example below we will describe Site Analytics but the procedure is the same for all three options.

  1. Log in to your OMBEA Connect account via connect.ombea.com.
  2. Select Analytics from the left hand side.
  3. In the top right corner you can see the current Spare Capacity for ResponseApp licences for your site, taking into consideration all current live users.
  4. Select a date range from the boxes beneath this, and an option from the Filter, as follows:

    1. If you are logged in as a Presenter you will not see a data filter, but will still be able to select a date range.
    2. If you are logged in as a Super-Presenter you will be able to filter for your own analytics (Mine) or your Site Branch.
    3. If you are logged in as an Admin you will be able to filter for your own analytics (Mine) or your Site Branch, or have No Filter. This third option will display all data across all site branches.
  5. Click Update. The main chart will update to reflect the number of responses collected per day, week or month depending on your selection.
  6. Beneath this the two pie charts will show the operating systems and manufacturer brands of the mobile devices in use for the sessions in question.
  7. Beneath the pie charts the three panels will show the average number of participants per session, the active Site Branches, and the Active Presenters.
  8. If you click on the number of Active Site Branches or Active Presenters you can see the names of both the active and inactive Branches or Presenters during the time period of your report.
